If you could choose a way to help better yourself and others, which way could, should and would you choose? The words of Christ are full of Spirit and life (John 6:63). In these perilous times, the Holy Spirit is reminding us to deny our way and follow the way of Christ (John 14:26; Matthew 16:24). All of our righteousness is no better than filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). Every way of man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart (Proverbs 21:2). Every pathway decided upon through human effort, seems to be right at first, but the end result of those choices is death (Proverbs 14:12). When God examines the heart, he is looking to find Christ there. Without Christ and his abiding words we can do nothing (John 15:5-7).
Before we can choose God’s way over our own, we must examine the way we choose to see Christ and how we identify with his message. Let us be reminded of Proverbs 3:5-7: “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge the Lord, and he will direct your paths. Don’t be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. How do we acknowledge God in all of our ways? We must think, speak and act as though God truly does exist. We cannot see him as this nebulous being in the sky that has no real connection to us in the earth. God is with us. He’s omniscient and omnipresent; therefore, he sees and knows all that we do inwardly and outwardly (Hebrews 11:6; Psalm 139). Where is the fear (honor, awe, reverence and respect) for the Lord? Think of God’s ways in comparison to ours (Isaiah 55:8-9) when attacks come from evil influencers ( family, religion, politics, finance, education, media, medical, etc.). We cannot resist nor subdue evil attackers by doing things our way–according to the flesh. In Romans 12:21, we are encouraged– not to be overcome of evil, but to overcome evil with good.
In conclusion, study and meditate on God’s word, and pray and seek God’s face in all matters concerning his word, his will and his ways (II Timothy 2:15, Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3, 119:33). Earnestly cry out to God to teach you his ways and make them known to you and teach you how to live according to his truth (Psalm 25:4-5). If we are to know God, be strong, and do great things, we must be thoroughly equipped in his word, do his will and walk in his ways (Daniel 11:32; II Timothy 3:16-17; Galatians 5:16-26). Be encouraged and help others to know whose way they could, should and would choose …
Godspeed,
